Daniel Charles Tosteson (b. 1925), Caroline Shields Walker Professor of Physiology, was Dean of Harvard Medical School and President of the Harvard Medical Center from 1977 to 1997. Tosteson completed his MD at Harvard Medical School in 1949, and began his career as a physiologist with his research specializing in the molecular mechanisms of ion transport across membranes, and erythrocyte membranes in particular.
